Kings Head Horncastle

A pub serving food in Horncastle.

The Kings Head is situated in the Bull Ring in the centre of Horncastle and has been a public house for many centuries (if only the walls and the ghosts could talk!)
Known locally as ‘The Thatch’ due to the pub’s thatched roof. In the summer it is enhanced with an attractive , award winning floral display.

The low ceilings create an intimate atmosphere and the open fire provides a wonderful haven from the winter chill in the colder months. In the summer customers can take advantage of the pub’s hidden jewel a secluded, pretty floral rear courtyard beer garden.

There is a great range of craft and draught beers along with Belgian and craft bottle beers, helped down with a delicious pie menu.

Batemans Gold 3.9 Batemans Brewery

A light gold/yellow ale with Chinook and Cascade hops

Tasting Notes: A golden colour, refreshing beer brewed with lager malt and Chinook and Cascade hops, giving a lovely citrus flavour and aroma, which is quite dry and very moreish.

Classic amber, English pale ale crafted by the fusion of luscious English Golding and Challenger hops with crisp Lincolnshire pale and chocolate malts, slowly matured to create a grainy, quaffable beer

Tasting Notes:

Batemans XXXB (Triple XB) 4.8 Batemans Brewery

Perfectly blended, fruity tasting, classic English tawny pale ale.

Tasting Notes: Classic English tawny pale ale, brewed with pale, chocolate, crystal and wheat malts, blended with spicy Challenger, Styrian and Golding hops, to create a fruity beer with peppery aroma and fruity, biscuity flavour.

Carling 4.1 Carling

Carling has been Britain’s best selling lager for more than three decades. It is brewed to have the perfect balance of sweetness & bitterness ensuring it is as brilliantly refreshing from the first sip to the last.

Tasting Notes: Carling has been skilfully brewed using lightly kilned British malts, aromatic hops and Carling's unique yeast to create a malty, sweet flavour, balanced with a hoppy ''clean flavoured'' bitterness and the aroma of freshly harvested grain.

Foster's 3.7 Heineken

Foster's is the ultimate ice-cold refreshment. Its balance of subtle fruitiness and vanilla is ideal for the sweeter-toothed lager lover. The perfect session beer to enjoy with mates.

Tasting Notes: A light-coloured lager style, it presents full malt character with a balanced clean hop bitterness. Combined with a slightly hoppy, but yeasty/malty nose, Foster's lager is a full bodied beer with excellent drinkability.

Guinness Draught 4.2 Diageo

Rich and creamy. Distinctive, Ruby Red colour. Velvety in its finish. This iconic beer was developed in 1959 and launched as a celebration of the 200 years anniversary of Arthur Guinness signing his 9,000-year lease.

Tasting Notes: Aroma: Sweet smelling with a coffee and malty nose
Flavour: Perfect balance of bitter and sweet with malt and roast characters Palate: Smooth, creamy and balanced

John Smiths Extra Smooth 3.6 John Smith's Brewery

John Smith’s Extra Smooth was launched in 1993 and is now the nation's number 1 ale.

Tasting Notes: The boffins say it has a distinct cereal character, with malty, caramel notes being complemented by some fruitiness. But we just think it’s a right good pint.

Kronenbourg 1664 5.0 Heineken

Kronenbourg 1664's pleasure is in its light lemon and herbal flavours from the Alsace hops, and clean bittersweet finish.

Tasting Notes: This exceptional beer originated in Alsace in Eastern France and is brewed with the exclusive Strisselspalt hop, known as the caviar of hops, which gives it its unique aromatic and fruity flavour.

Theakston Peculier IPA 5.1 Theakstons Ltd

Peculier IPA is our modern take on a beer style first developed in the 19th century for our armed forces serving in India.

Tasting Notes: Theakston Peculier IPA is a new world craft keg IPA brewed in Masham using a combination of Cluster, Simcoe & Bullion hops from the US and locally grown hops infused into a mash of finest quality malted barley to produce a delicate ale of Pine and new world hop aroma and subtle mango, guava and honey flavour.

Old Rosie 7.3 Westons Cider

Mid golden and straw-like in colour, Old Rosie is a cloudy, medium-bodied fruity cider that has a wonderful aroma of wild berry-fruits, honey and vintage cider-barrels.

Tasting Notes:

Strongbow 4.5 Heineken

Strongbow gets its distinctive flavour and cut-through refreshment through the unique blends of bittersweet British cider apples from our Herefordshire orchards.

Tasting Notes: The cider is made from a blend of bittersweet cider and culinary apples making it a well-rounded, balanced cider with a good mix of fresh apples and cidery flavour
