Last year, for the first time, more people accessed the internet via mobile devices than on a computer, according to media reports, and our own research found that over half (55 per cent) of people look for information about a pub via a smartphone or tablet.

That means a website that performs well on phones and tablets is a must for all pubs.

There are a number of simple things you can do to ensure your website works well on mobiles, says Inapub's very own digital marketing expert, Mark Daniels.

"Keep the content and design of your mobile website clean and clear; remember, people are looking on a small screen," he says.

Other ideas include registering with Google My Business, to ensure your business will appear correctly in searches such as 'pubs near me', and perform an audit – check all the websites that reference you (such as review sites) and make sure their data is correct.

Often these are often the first sites to appear in mobile search results.
