Carpenters Arms

A pub serving food in Callington.

A charming 15th century pub located in the picturesque village of Metherell, in the middle of the stunning Tamar Valley, an area of outstanding natural beauty in Cornwall. Just 5 minutes drive from the historic, beautifully preserved, Tudor Cotehele House. The Carpenters Arms is, in fact, named after the carpenters who built Cotehele House in the 15th Century.

This timeless, family friendly and welcoming pub is full of character and atmosphere. Roaring fires lit throughout winter. The public bar is flagged with slate and heavy black beams are held in place by massive exposed stone walls, in contrast to the larger lounge which also functions as a dining area.

Three rotating, beautifully kept, real ales. The regular being Sharp’s Doombar, and we alternate between microbreweries and larger national breweries like Timothy Taylor, St Austell, Otter to name a few, on the other pumps.

We serve delicious food, fresh, prepared to order on our premises by our chef. Monday night is pizza night: traditional stone baked pizzas. We prepare our dough, fresh on the day. Excellent Sunday Roast. Meat is locally sourced. We alternate the roast every Sunday.

Great live music gigs with truly talented musicians/bands entertain us every month. Open Mic is the last Thursday of every month. Please do check our Facebook page for Live Music gig dates.

We cater for all occasions. In fact, our restaurant is available for private hire.

We liaise with the local busy community. As a result of this, we hold the ever so popular “Brunch and Local Produce Market” on the 1st Saturday of the month (from March to December), together with Tamar Valley Food Hubs, a local Farmers’ Market.

We also host seasonal holidays parties for the local Playgroup and School, to raise funds for them, which are open to everybody.

Becks Vier 4.0 Becks

Launched in April 2006 for the UK market. Brewed in Bremen, but packaged in the UK. "The Vier brand, whose German name translates as "four", is being positioned at the top end of the standard lager sector.

Tasting Notes: Beck’s Vier is a 4% pilsner lager brewed with the same uncompromising approach to quality and authenticity as Beck’s. Imported from Bremen, Germany, Beck’s Vier is brewed with precision to the Reinheitsgebot purity law, which ensures that only four pure ingredients are ever involved. This unique blend of golden barley, Bavarian hops, pure glacier water and unique yeast gives Beck’s Vier its clean, crisp, full bodied taste and exceptional refreshment.

Swirling clouds tumble as the storm begins to calm.

Tasting Notes: Unmistakeably GUINNESS®, from the first velvet sip to the last, lingering drop. And every deep-dark satisfying mouthful in between.

HSD 5.0 St Austell Brewery

Tasting Notes: Full, Dried Fruit, Bitter Hops

Tasting Notes: San Miguel is a pale blonde Spanish pilsner style lager, with a hoppy, citrus aroma, and hoppy zesty fruity flavours with a full flavoured hoppy lingering finish. San Miguel is well suited to tapas style food, cured meats, hams and cheeses

Sharp's Doom Bar Amber Ale 4.0 Sharp's Brewery Ltd

Tasting Notes: “The aroma of Doom Bar combines an accomplished balance of spicy resinous hop, inviting sweet malt and delicate roasted notes.
