After 21 years of serving great food and drinks to the good people of Central Manchester, and in the same year as Dimitri himself received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Manchester Food and Drink Festival, a new Dimitris Tapas Bar and Taverna was opened in suburban Didsbury, at the site where the Steak & Kebab House was and Dimitri started his catering career as a barman in the 1970s. ‘For personal reasons I couldn’t let the site go when it became available’, said Dimitri when asked about his latest restaurant. But Dimitris’ efforts to complete his “one big circle” are not only on a personal level. By providing the leafy suburbs of Didsbury with their own Mediterranean oasis to compliment his long established venue on Deansgate, Dimitri hopes to reconnect and rekindle the love with a generation of customers, many of whom have moved out of the city to Southern Manchester.
