The Divers Arms, as the name suggests, has a feel reflecting its maritime heritage and its situation right on the seafront. It was built in early Victorian days, allegedly on the proceeds of one of the first divers. Today an old brass diving helmet (first invented in neighbouring Whitstable) is one of the several fascinating nautical artefacts and local memorabilia on display. There is even a smugglers’ cave tucked away in the cellar! You will find a warm welcome in this hospitable inn which has been comfortably modernised with a sympathetic recent refurbishment. The cosy bar has an inviting open fire in winter, a pool table and darts board, and outside is a courtyard for summer days and for smokers.
