Ossett Brewery

A child and dog friendly brewery serving food with Sky TV and WiFi in Ossett.

A progressive and passionate independent brewery located in the heart of Yorkshire. Borne of family values, unity, team work and integrity. Crafted over two decades, we’ve perfected the science of producing ales of consistently high quality and honed the art of brewing beers that are loved by all.

Within our pub estate we also operate three microbreweries; Fernandes in Wakefield, Riverhead at Marsden and the Rat Brewery in Huddersfield.

Tasting Notes: A pale, straw coloured session ale. High levels of bitterness, followed by flavours of citrus fruits and marmalade.

Big Red 4.0

Ruby Red Ale

Tasting Notes: Brewed with pale, wheat, crystal and chocolate malts, this is a rich, full bodied ruby red ale, bursting with complex flavours. Citrus, fruit and spice aromas dominate.

Brit Hop 3.5

Pale Session Bitter

Tasting Notes: OBE EXCLUSIVE BEER. Made from low colour Maris Otter malt, this is a very pale golden bitter. A moderate 35 EBU’s of bitterness come from a combination of four different British hops added at different points throughout the boil. A light, refreshing and easy drinking ale with spicy hop aroma.

Butterley 3.8

Tasting Notes: A traditional, easy drinking Yorkshire Bitter, made from all British ingredients. Pale copper in colour, this beer initially has sweet malt and honey on the palate, followed by a moderately bitter finish. The delicate hop aromas can be described as floral and spicy.

Tasting Notes: Classic Maris Otter malt and Golding Hops combine to produce a mellow, smooth ale, with moderate bitterness and a delicate spicy hop character.

Tasting Notes: A pale, straw coloured session ale. Intensely hoppy, with tropical fruit aromas reminiscent of Opal Fruits.

Citrussy Pale Ale

Tasting Notes: A fruity pale ale. Although an initial bitterness leads to a sweet malty aftertaste, this is a beer all about hops. A straw coloured ale with powerful aromas of tropical fruit - Mango and pineapple can be detected.

Session Ale

Tasting Notes: A deep golden session ale brewed from barley, wheat and crystal malts. Full bodied and malty with moderate bitterness, generous quantities of the distinctive Columbus hop are added at the end of the boil to impart intense aromas of pine and grapefruit.

Traditional English Bitter

Tasting Notes: Golden bitter, brewed from a blend of four malts and showcasing some of the newer English hop varieties, Jester and Olicana.

Premium Dry-Hopped Pale Ale

Tasting Notes: Latin for 'forever upwards' and signified by the soaring Yorkshire Red Kite. Three times SIBA national champion and the strongest beer in our core range. A classic pale ale, brewed from British pale malt and US Cascade hops. Smooth, fruity and full- bodied, with a deceptive bitterness to complement its alcohol strength. Refreshing citrus hop aromas complete the sensory pleasure.

Tasting Notes: Golden bitter stuffed full of Styrian Wolf hops to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Ossett Brewery.

Harvest Moon 4

Tasting Notes: A golden harvest ale brewed from all British ingredients. Barley, wheat, oat, rye and cara malts give a complex, malty and mellow beer with moderate bitterness. Three different varieties of English hops (Endeavour, First Gold and Jester) are added to the copper, to the hopback and as dry hop after fermentation to give aromas of tangerine, blackcurrant and grapefruit.

Tasting Notes: A pale golden ale with no discernable bitterness, but which is tart and tangy on the palate and has a dry aftertaste. Intense aromas of tropical fruit, in particular mango, lychee and pineapple from late and dry-hopping with five varieties of American hops.

Heavily Hopped Golden Ale

Tasting Notes: A complex recipe involving 5 different malt varieties and 5 American hop varieties to give a real depth of flavour with an aromatic & resinous finish. Warning - may be too heavily hopped for some drinkers!

Tasting Notes: Fruity pale ale with citrus & tropical fruit aromas. Bitter full bodied & fruity from the new British Jester hop variety.

Tasting Notes: A pale, straw coloured session ale. Crisp, refreshing and fairly delicate, but with intense lemon characteristics.

Mai Tai 3.8

Session IPA

Tasting Notes: Made from pale and wheat malts, this is a crisp, dry and refreshing ale. Moderately bitter, but with heaps of New Zealand Waimea hops added at the end of the boil, this session IPA has intense hop aromas of citrus and pine.

Mango 4.5

Brew No4 of our Head Brewer Project.

Tasting Notes: A golden IPA with moderate bitterness and a robust, full-bodied malty mouthfeel. Hopped in the copper and hopback with Simcoe and then dry-hopped with Centennial to produce intense tropical fruit and citrus aromas. The addition of mango puree during fermentation completes this very fruity and aromatic beer. (Naturally Hazy)

Tasting Notes: A pale, straw coloured session ale. Moderately bitter and malty, with delicate aromas of melon and strawberry. Brewed with German Huell Melon.

Nelson Sauvin 4.0

Fruity Pale Ale

Tasting Notes: Each beer utilizes the same 4% abv, pale malt, base with a similar quantity of a single hop variety added and the beer being named after that hop variety. The New Zealand Nelson Sauvin hop produces a high level of bitterness with gooseberry & grapefruit characteristics.

Nervous Turkey 4.3

Golden Hoppy Bitter

Tasting Notes: Pale and crystal malts combine with British Bramling Cross hops to give a pale gold, moderately bitter beer with a spicy hop finish. A hint of cranberry may even be detected!

Otago 4.2

Tasting Notes: A mellow golden session ale brewed from pale, wheat and caramalt to give a sweetish malty palate. Hopped generously with Rakau hops from New Zealand to give aromas of citrus, spice and stone fruits.

Pale Gold 3.8

Traditional Session Ale

Tasting Notes: Pale Gold is a refreshing, easy drinking session beer brewed from pale, wheat and crystal malts. Low in gravity, yet full in flavour, Cascade hops provide both bitterness and a crisp citrusy aroma.

Tasting Notes: Silky-smooth black porter brewed from a blend of pale, oat and roasted malts and English Hops.

Tasting Notes: A well-balanced golden ale with moderate bitterness. Fruity aromas which may be detected include mango, lime, strawberry and melon, and arise from generous late and dry-hopping with American varieties such as Citra, El Dorado and Centennial.

Tasting Notes: A very pale American hopped bitter with a dry crisp finish.

Citrusy Pale Ale

Tasting Notes: One of the original Ossett core beers from 1998 and SIBA national champion. This regal beer continues to be a timeless classic. A simple combination of pale malt and American Cascade hops result in a crisp, dry and refreshing pale ale with aromas of citrus fruit and balanced bitterness.

Silver Shadow 3.9

Pale Session Beer

Tasting Notes: A lager coloured session ale. Dry, bitter & citrusy. A pale session beer of considerable character despite its low gravity. The first regular Ossett brew to utilize econ-friendly English hedgerow hops.

Simcoe 4

Tasting Notes: A pale, straw coloured session ale. Fairly bitter and with intense aromas of citrus fruits and pine resin.

Sizzler 4.0

Refreshing Golden Bitter

Tasting Notes: Amber coloured ale. A full malty flavour is contrasted with moderate bitterness. Brewed using a combination of high alpha American "C-hops" to give a citrus hoppy aroma. A refreshing drink, brewed for hot summer days!

Snake Mocha Stout 5.0

Coffee Chocolate Stout

Tasting Notes: A rich, full-bodied stout with coffee and chocolate added to the boil to supplement the roast flavours of dark malts. Fairly high levels of bitterness balance the malty sweetness to give a robust, warming stout for the festive period. American Cluster hops give both bitterness and a delicate fruity aroma.

Snowdrop 4.2

Pale Hoppy Beer

Tasting Notes: A very pale beer brewed with HBG hops. Moderate bitterness and a delicate maltiness on the palate from a generous addition of hops at the end of the boil. Fruit and spice notes are detected in the aroma.

Sorachi Sunset 4.0

Red Hop Ale

Tasting Notes: A malty red bitter. Generously hopped with the Sorachi Ace variety to give aromas of lime, dill and perhaps even coconut.

South Pacific 5.0

Antipodean IPA

Tasting Notes: Strong straw coloured pale ale. Fairly dry with a high level of bitterness. New Zealand Pacific Jade hops impart a citrus/herbal hop character.

Spellbound 4.3

Spicy Golden Beer

Tasting Notes: A dry and refreshing golden ale brewed from a magical combination of pale, wheat and Munich malts. Low levels of bitterness, but generous quantities of hops added at the end of the boil impart a delicious spicy aroma.

Styrian Cardinal 4

Tasting Notes: A pale, straw coloured session ale. Moderately bitter and malty, with hop aromas of citrus and spice.

Summer Fruits 3.9

Smooth Pale Ale

Tasting Notes: A smooth, mellow and fruity session beer, brewed from pale and oat malts. German Melon hops give aromas of melon and strawberry.

Turning Leaves 4.5

Traditional Malty Ale

Tasting Notes: A golden full bodied ale. Mellow and slightly sweet. Spicy and blackcurrant characteristics may be detected.

Voodoo 5.0

Chocolate Orange Stout

Tasting Notes: A deliciously rich and full-bodied stout, brewed from pale, roasted and chocolate malts. Smooth and with moderate bitterness, chocolate flavours dominate the palate paired with aromas of orange and vanilla.

White Rabbit 3.8

Pale Hoppy Ale

Tasting Notes: Extra pale ale. Low colour Maris Otter English malt gives the palest of pale beers. Fairly dry and bitter with citrus hop aromas dominant.

Hoppy Pale Ale

Tasting Notes: This very pale, hoppy ale is made from low colour malt. A combination of Cascade, Columbus & Amarillo hops produce an intensely aromatic and resinous finish.

Helles Lager

Tasting Notes: A crisp, refreshing session lager with low bitterness and a hint of sweetness. Each batch carefully crafted to produce a true Helles-style lager brewed using German ingredients.

Yorkshire Blonde 3.9

Fruity Pale Ale

Tasting Notes: This beer pays homage to our stunning Yorkshire heartland, the inspiration behind everything we brew. This pale ale is full-bodied, well-rounded and slightly sweet on the palate. A generous addition of Mount Hood hops late in the boil result in a delicate fruity aroma.

Yorkshire Brunette 3.7

Tasting Notes: An easy-drinking session bitter brewed with pale, wheat and roasted malts. Pale chestnut in colour and with moderate bitterness, aromas of spice and citrus fruit come from the hops.

Yorkshire Treacle 4.8

Rich Robust Stout

Tasting Notes: The newest addition to our 'Yorkshire' range which pay homage to the stunning heartland that inspires our brewing. A rich and robust black stout that has a generous addition of black treacle to provide an intense depth of flavour. The roasted malts impart a coffee and chocolate character. The late addition of Cascade hops helps to provide a pleasingly moderate bitter finish.
