The Angel

A child and dog friendly pub serving food with Sky TV and WiFi and a garden in Reading.

The Angel is a large lovely village country pub situated on the A4 roadside between Reading and Newbury.

A large carpark to the right of the building and a new overflow carpark at the back of the garden provides space for approx. 50 cars so there is plenty of room to fit you in.

We have a pretty front patio with glass screens to protect you from the noise of the road and wind but still allowing you to sit under an umbrella and watch the world go by. Out the back, we have a covered courtyard with plenty of seating and heating and a grassy area with benches and a large grassed area for children. All of our outdoor areas get bathed in sunshine so it’s a lovely way to pass the day with a cool drink and maybe something to eat.

We have a bar area with dining seating and a comfortable restaurant area to choose from our extensive daily carvery and a la carte menus. We also have an alcove area with high bench seating and tables and a big screen television showing live sport. Sunday carvery is served in our function room towards the back that leads on to the garden and fills the restaurant with delicious aromas.

Our function room seats approximately 40 people, which we can hire out for your special event such as birthdays, weddings, conferences, meetings or simply a get together. We are very happy to work with you to provide everything you might need such as buffets, menus, drinks and decorations. You just let us know what you are thinking and we can help to sort it out!

We look forward to your visit at the Angel!

Drink % Brewery
Amstel 4.1 Heineken

Our classic, golden Amstel Beer, with its very distinctive and mildly bitter taste, has over the years become well known beyond the borders of its native country.

Tasting Notes:

Estrella Damm 4.6 Sociedad Anónima Damm

Estrella Damm is a Mediterranean beer, made with malt, rice and hop, brewed with 100% natural ingredients according to the original recipe from 1876

Tasting Notes: A light malty aroma on the nose with a little spice drifting through slowly.

Foster's 3.7 Heineken

Foster's is the ultimate ice-cold refreshment. Its balance of subtle fruitiness and vanilla is ideal for the sweeter-toothed lager lover. The perfect session beer to enjoy with mates.

Tasting Notes: A light-coloured lager style, it presents full malt character with a balanced clean hop bitterness. Combined with a slightly hoppy, but yeasty/malty nose, Foster's lager is a full bodied beer with excellent drinkability.

Guinness Draught 4.2 Guinness

One of the world's best-loved beers, with sweet smelling aromas of coffee and malt, from the first velvety sip to the last, lingering drop, every deep-dark satisfying mouthful in between is pure beauty… pure Guinness.

Tasting Notes: Unmistakeably GUINNESS®, from the first velvet sip to the last, lingering drop and every deep-dark satisfying mouthful in between.

Heineken 5.0 Heineken

Brewing beer is a 100% natural process. Heineken beer is made from the purest ingredients.

Tasting Notes: The resin from the female hop flower cones is used to help balance the sweetness of the barley with a refreshing bitterness.

Hop House 13 Lager 5.0 Guinness

Hop House 13 is a double-hopped lager made with Irish barley and aromatic hops

Tasting Notes: A crisp and full-flavoured lager with subtle malty notes and fresh hop aromas with hints of Apricot and Peach.

Strongbow Cloudy Apple 4 Heineken

Crafted in Herefordshire with a unique blend of British bittersweet apples, Strongbow Cloudy Apple is a fresh new take on traditional cloudy cider

Tasting Notes:

Thatchers Gold Cider 4.8 Thatchers Cider
