Windsor and Eton Brewery

A brewery in Windsor.

79 years after the closure of Windsor’s last brewery, we are delighted to be bringing brewing back to Windsor. Our brewery is within sight of Windsor Castle and we hope that our ales will prove to be a great hit for locals and many of the 17 million visitors who come to Windsor and Eton each year.

When Burge’s Brewery closed its doors in 1931, it brought to an end a tradition of Windsor brewing that had lasted for well over 300 years.

We managed to create a new brewery from scratch in just seven weeks. On the 1st March 2010, St David’s Day, we began installing the brewing vessels and on 23rd April 2010, St George’s Day, pubs started selling Guardsman best bitter. We are beginning to think we might have a bit of saintly help!

Since launch the demand has been amazing, with Guardsmen selling out in many pubs and achieving the distinction of being the first beer to sell out at this years Reading Festival. As there were 600 beers at the festival this was no mean feat. Big, big thanks are due to our amazing Facebook fans (we have nearly 2600) and all the local CAMRA groups who have been spreading the word.

Traditional cask brewing is a uniquely British institution. We have had so much help from so many other brewers all around the country who have been incredibly generous with their time and experience.

Our ambition remains simple - to make great traditional cask ales and have great fun on the way.

Conqueror 1075 7.4

With an original gravity of 1075, at 7.4% ABV CONQUEROR 1075 is a true strength IPA. But that’s where comparisons to other IPA’s stop. CONQUEROR 1075 is an award winning black, rich and complex IPA brewed from a unique blend of 5 dark roasted malts and grain. It is bottle conditioned and packaged in bottle (including champagne bottles) as well as sold on very special occasions in cask

Tasting Notes: The aroma is a rich hoppy and burnt "bomb" with distinct pine resin and citrus notes mingled with treacle and molasses notes. The flavour doesn't disappoint with a full, rich Christmas pudding - just after being flambéed effect. Very warming.

Conqueror Black IPA 5.0

This beer is brewed in the IPA style ie strong, dry and hoppy (all features to cope with the arduous journey to India) but it certainly isn’t pale.

Tasting Notes: This rich, complex & distinctive ale is one of the UK’s most talked about beers for two reasons. Firstly the name generates controversy. This beer is brewed in the IPA style ie strong, dry and hoppy (all features to cope with the arduous journey to India) but it certainly isn’t pale. As per records of the time this beer is ‘a dark beer of the Burton style’.  The blackness of this beer is produced using a blend of 5 malts including Chocolate, dark Crystal, Carafa and Smoked malt.Unlike a stout though this beer also packs a mighty punch of hop flavour derived from Summit and Cascade hops. The result is a completely different drinking experience.

Eton Boatman 4.3

Eton Boatman has a fresh, clean and full flavoured taste. It is made with a combination of American Citra hops producing citrus flavours and Australian Galaxy hops giving hints of exotic fruit.

Guardsman 4.2

This beer is a classic English Best Bitter, brewed with premium floor malted Maris Otter and traditional whole leaf hops including Fuggles and Goldings.

Kohinoor 4.5

Based on a classic IPA recipe which uses Imperial Malt along with Chinook, Simcoe and Pacific Jade hops. However the additional special ingredients of Jaggery Jasmine Petals, Cardamom and Coriander produce a distinctive twist to this “Indies Pale Ale”.

Tasting Notes: The resultant beer is a pale, smooth, full IPA with a distinct bitterness and with a hop aroma that is enhanced by a touch of the exotic!

White Riot 5.3

With new world hops and a handful of orange zest, it's not a pure I.P.A. and not a wheat beer - it's a bold riot of a beer on it's own.

Tasting Notes:
