Open all day, with gardens overlooking the Trent and Mersey Canal, The Stanley Arms has been a popular venue for local customers, cyclists, walkers and canal users for many years. A refurbishment of The Stanley Arms in 2012, along with a new family management team, has resulted in a friendly, comfortable and bright venue, ideal for meeting family and friends or to simply have a quiet pint alone and enjoy its traditional charm.
When it comes to food, whether it’s a quick bite when you break from your trek or bike ride around the beautiful local area, or perhaps a hearty meal after mooring your barge at the bottom of our garden, our extensive menu provides flavour and variety at a price to suit.

The Stanley Arms overlooks the Anderton Boat Lift Centre. Built in 1875 and restored in 2002, The Lift is now fondly known as “The Cathedral of the Canals”. With over 100,000 visitors a year, the Boat Lift offers visitors a great experience. Its new exhibition is great for the kids. You can even jump on a boat and have a ride through the lift.
