The Sawyer's Arms

A child friendly pub serving food with WiFi in Exeter.

This building has been a local landmark since 1966. However, The Sawyer's Arms is actually much older. The present public house replaced an earlier pub of the same name, sited nearer to the River Exe (at 114 Cowick Street). The original Sawyer's Arms was first recorded in White's Devon Directory of 1850. By 1911, it was in the hands of the City Brewery, with its own brew house at the rear of the premises. The old pub was demolished in 1957.

Abbot Ale 5.0 Greene King PLC

Full flavoured, smooth and mature taste with fruit cake characters , a malty richness and superb hop balance.

Tasting Notes: Mahogany in colour and brewed for longer to create a rich malty, and mature flavour.

Bishops Finger 5.0 Shepherd Neame

Fashioned on a firm, fruity foundation of Crystal malt, this rich, ruby-coloured Kent classic belies its burly appearance with a complexity of flavour.

Tasting Notes: Mouth-filling fruit, prunes, plums and dried apricot spiked with palate-prickling pepper, cinnamon and a soft bitter blood-orange finish.

Greene King IPA 3.6 Greene King PLC

An easy drinking, refreshing IPA with a hoppy taste, and aroma to give a clean dry finish

Tasting Notes: Tawny Amber in colour with a hoppy taste and aroma.

Otter Head 5.8 Otter Brewery

At 5.8% abv the award-winning Otter Head is their strongest beer. They believe that the key to brewing a great strong beer is to make it well-balanced with a good use of hops. This makes Otter Head easily drinkable and an excellent choice with food.

Tasting Notes: Whilst it has a distinctive barley wine, old ale character it remains light to drink with a malty, fruity and slightly sweet flavour with a long bittersweet aftertaste. The fruit and malt aroma sits well with the beer’s deep, luxurious red/brown colour – still a firm favourite on many bars.

Sharp's Doom Bar Amber Ale 4.0 Sharp's Brewery Ltd

Doom Bar is a perfectly balanced beer combining subtle yet complex flavours, Doom Bar is both satisfying and deliciously moreish.

Tasting Notes: “The aroma of Doom Bar combines an accomplished balance of spicy resinous hop, inviting sweet malt and delicate roasted notes. The mouth feel is a perfectly balanced and complex blend of succulent dried fruit, lightly roasted malty notes and a subtle yet assertive bitterness. The bitterness remains into the finish with dry fruity notes which implore the drinker to go back for more.” Stuart Howe, Head Brewer.

Trooper 4.8 Frederic Robinson Ltd

Trooper is a Premium British Beer inspired by Iron Maiden and handcrafted at Robinsons brewery. Malt flavours and citric notes from a unique blend of Bobec, Goldings and Cascade hops dominate this deep golden ale with a subtle hint of lemon.
