Handy for the glorious Golden Stone Abbey, this old-fashioned town ale house pleases everyone who likes their pubs down-to-earth. It has four or five interesting real ales on hand pump, and they work through around 20 different beers a week, most from fairly local brewers such as Cottage, Exmoor, Goldfinch and Otter. There’s a relaxed and friendly atmosphere in the simple stone-flagged main bar, which attracts a good mix of customers...... The enjoyable food, like the beer, is very reasonably priced.
