This early 19th-century pub was formerly used as accommodation for visiting theatre troupes, and as a frequent meeting place for Druids and Oddfellows; it has also witnessed at least one murder in its time. The two rooms are divided by a now bustling central bar, and Nailers Gold is a bespoke house beer whose name reflects a long-gone industry in the town. Bar billiards and shove-ha'penny are played. World heritage status has rejuvenated this former mill town.
