Kings Head

A pub serving food in Ilkeston.

Before the major refurbishment The Moon & Sixpence was a very dark and worn place with old tired furniture and not many customers but after changing it back to The Kingshead and making it a very light, welcoming & relaxed atmosphere with seating areas for groups of friends or couples to sit and enjoy each others company there is forever a stream of customers in.

Since the refurb we now offer food on a daily basis including serving Sunday roasts every week, there is always a choice of cask ales on offer which will change regularly, lavazza coffees served daily and a classic cocktails and shooters menu

6X 4.1 Wadworth Brewery

6X is our iconic ale, brewed for over 90 years with a national following of drinkers always seeking it out; it’s a beacon on the bar for many ale drinkers. 6X is the classic premium ale that has made Wadworth famous.

Tasting Notes: This hand crafted ale is a timeless amber-hued beer distinctively full bodied and eminently drinkable. The nose is malty and fruity with a balancing hoppy note. The delicious malt and fruit character emerge even more intensely on the palate with a long lingering malty finish.

Carling 4.1 Carling

Carling has been Britain’s best selling lager for more than three decades. It is brewed to have the perfect balance of sweetness & bitterness ensuring it is as brilliantly refreshing from the first sip to the last.

Tasting Notes: Carling has been skilfully brewed using lightly kilned British malts, aromatic hops and Carling's unique yeast to create a malty, sweet flavour, balanced with a hoppy ''clean flavoured'' bitterness and the aroma of freshly harvested grain.

Tasting Notes:

John Smiths Bitter 3.8 John Smith's Brewery

Bronze and amber colouring with a malt and fruity smell.

Tasting Notes: Malt, hop bitterness, a full body with lasting aftertaste. John Smith’s bitter, which is still going strong, is a malty, bitter sweet ale with a slight fruitiness and a bitter aftertaste – we probably took the words right out of your mouth.

Sharp's Doom Bar Amber Ale 4.0 Sharp's Brewery Ltd

Doom Bar is a perfectly balanced beer combining subtle yet complex flavours, Doom Bar is both satisfying and deliciously moreish.

Tasting Notes: “The aroma of Doom Bar combines an accomplished balance of spicy resinous hop, inviting sweet malt and delicate roasted notes. The mouth feel is a perfectly balanced and complex blend of succulent dried fruit, lightly roasted malty notes and a subtle yet assertive bitterness. The bitterness remains into the finish with dry fruity notes which implore the drinker to go back for more.” Stuart Howe, Head Brewer.
