The Final Whistle

A child friendly pub serving food in Southwell.

The Final Whistle in Southwell, has offically opened with a 1920's style railway platform, one of the key new features of the £250,000 refurbishment.

Formerly the Newcastle Arms, now The Final Whistle, the pub has undergone a complete make-over and refurbishment to mark a new beginning for the Real Ale pub. Amongst the many period features restored at the pub, is the transformation of the former car park area into an outdoorseating courtyard shaped to look exactly like a 1920's railway platform.

With the orginal track from the now closed Southwell rail line running adjacent to the pub, customers now have the opportunity to enjoy the ambience and atmosphere of a bygone railway age, but without the chance to actually get the last train home. It’s proving a popular attraction among regulars and railway enthusiasts.

The final Whistle name has been chosen to commemorate the Southwell railways station’s closure in 1964 – a historic period known to locals as “The Final Whistle”. Why not come down and pay us a visit!
