The Royal oak is a traditional, open plan beer house with a number of original features. There is a well equipped games room and snug and a meeting room on the first floor with its own bar. The pub is popular with shoppers and locals alike and is home to a number of clubs and societies. The Go Go Club is a regular weekly entertainment programme which is held in the upstairs function roon at the Royal Oak.
