Bell and Crown

A pub serving food in Chiswick.

Kew Gardens is an oasis of botanical wonders situated between Richmond and Kew stations.

Although internationally important botanical research is carried out here, the principal draw for tourists is the huge range of plants on show (the world’s largest collection of living plants) and the beautifully tended landscaped gardens.

Just on the bank of the Thames is the Bell & Crown. Although the pub’s history is centred more around smuggling than botany, it is a great place to catch a pint after a wander round the gardens. The pub used to be where smugglers landed their contraband, back in the day.

The pub now offers some of the best food in Chiswick and is a great place to have an al fresco lunch looking out over the River Thames. However, the Bell & Crown is also a good year round pub, with a cosy fireplace, and a sunny conservatory right down by the river’s edge, which is a unique place to catch the winter rays.
Interesting fact: the pub’s name comes from the fact that church bells used to bear the inscription 'Praise God, Honour the King'.

Bengal Lancer 5.0 Fuller's Brewery

Inspired by the classic India Pale Ales of times gone by, Fuller’s Bengal Lancer redefines Eastern promise. With a full-bodied flavour and spicy character, it’s an IPA that grabs the reins and leads from the front.

Tasting Notes: Conjuring a landscape of sandstorms and sunsets, Bengal Lancer pours a pale amber colour. On the palate, orange, character is followed by floral and spicy notes from the hops – riding through to a satisfying finish of mild bitterness. Great with a curry, Bengal Lancer cuts through to refresh the palate and add its own gentle touch of spice.

Discovery 3.9 Fuller's Brewery

Discovery is the first new year-round beer launched by Fuller’s since the 1980s. It was a response to the increasing popularity of lighter golden ales, Discovery boasts the perfect combination of flavour and refreshment.

Tasting Notes: This delicious, premium blonde ale from Fuller’s is the perfect combination of unbeatable flavour and refreshment. Brewed using a unique blend of malted barley and wheat for a delicious malty taste bursting with rich, biscuity flavours, Liberty hops are then added for a distinctive zesty character and fruity bite, whilst Saaz hops add a gentle bitter taste for a clean, refreshing finish.

ESB 5.5 Fuller's Brewery

Our extra-special Bitter

Tasting Notes: Rich mahogany in colour, ESB tempts with aromas of orange marmalade, balanced by soft malt toffee. The hops impart grassy, peppery notes alongside hints of citrus fruit – while the Pale Ale and Crystal malts bring distinctive biscuity flavours. A smooth, delicate bitterness lingers on the palate to give a supreme finish.

Honey Dew 5.0 Fuller's Brewery

Organic Honey Dew is the UK’s best selling organic beer.

Tasting Notes: Light and golden with a zesty edge and a bitter-sweet flavour, Honey Dew is a naturally palatable brew that is Soil Association approved. Served chilled, Organic Honey Dew offers both refreshment and an unbeatable taste. The real organic honey in the brew gives a gentle sweetness that appeals to a wide range of people, even those who perhaps wouldn''t usually drink beer, making it a very popular choice!

London Pride 4.1 Fuller's Brewery

In recent years its popularity has grown to the extent that it is now Britain’s leading premium ale: a welcome fixture in many pubs and off licences around the country, and now winning new friends abroad.

Tasting Notes: Rich, smooth and elegant on the palate, it draws to a clean, satisfying finish with beautifully balanced bitterness.

Seafarers 3.6 Fuller's Brewery

Light refreshing English bitter

Tasting Notes: Faintly fruity on the nose, this light amber beer sails a steady course through well-developed malt character towards a satisfying, hoppy finish. The Gales yeast brings out soft fruit flavours, while the hops impart a zesty, spicy quality to the brew.
