The George IV is steeped in history, dating back to 1777 when it was known as the Lord Boston Arms. Fuller, Smith & Turner acquired the pub in 1820 and in 1838 the manager, George Cloud, started running an omnibus service to the city. It has also been reported that there is a ghost here - affectionately called George.
A Fuller’s flagship pub, this award-winning venue plays host to a variety of events from top-class comedians and salsa dancing, to jazz nights and Open Mic Jam Nights all held in the purpose-built Headliners Comedy Club within the pub. The Comedy Club is also available for private hire and is a great venue for parties, music nights and informal conference style meetings.
We are known as an Ale & Pie House, one of several similarly styled pubs owned by Fuller’s. As the name suggests, we are famous for our fantastic homemade pies & perfectly conditioned award-winning cask ales.
Over many years our team of chefs have perfected the British tradition of pie making. All our food is freshly prepared and cooked in our kitchen using the finest quality ingredients, locally sourced where possible.
Our cask ales are brewed just over a mile from here, in Chiswick, London’s last remaining family-owned brewery. We always showcase a minimum of popular four cask-conditioned ales: Discovery, Chiswick, London Pride and ESB.
