A brewery in Great Yarmouth.

Lacons have a deep-rooted brewing heritage dating back to 1760 and we continue to use our own unique and original strains of yeast. This is a huge part of our brand story and something that distinguishes our beers making them truly special and multi-award-winning.

Our heritage range are specialist stronger ales, aged in cask and bottle for a bare minimum of 3 months allowing for greater character, body, and depth of flavour.

Robustly full bodied with a glistening chestnut tint, the ale’s complex passion fruit and lychee tartness leaps forward, closely followed by a perfectly charming balance of fruit and malt on the finish

Tasting Notes: This dark copper barley wine has a prominent flavour of berry fruit, laced with pronounced spice. The finish is warming, smooth and sweet. A unique style of beer with ‘hop wine’ overtones.

Charter 3.6

Lacons Charter is a copper best bitter based on the recipe for Charter Ale, first brewed in 1958 to celebrate the 750th anniversary of the granting of a Charter making Great Yarmouth a Market Town.

Tasting Notes: Charter has malty undertones with delicate flavours of soft fruit and berries. The finish is long and dry.

Dark Mild 3.3

Today, our modern expression has dark cherry tones with refreshing stone fruits on the nose. Toasted nutty flavours blend with roasted coffee into a warm slightly sweet ending.

Glowing with a pale amber hue, this flavour packed ale leads with delicate fruit aromas, comfortably balancing a dry pine and citrus crescendo of flavour throughout followed by a finish that is long and dry

Tasting Notes: 

Extra Stout 4.5

Luscious and full bodied from a blend of bold roasted malts, this exceptional dark stout carries a gentle crimson radiance. Valiant stone fruits are balanced by blackcurrant and a hint of citrus.

Falcon 4.2

This aptly named brew was first introduced to pay tribute to the iconic trademark, which is part of the official crest of the Lacon name. A good honest ale that also fits perfectly with the family’s motto, “in integrity is true honour.

Four Kisses 4

This modern expression is golden amber with a fragrance of woody forest berries. Smooth biscuity malt flavours mature to a rounded nutty and lightly spiced end.

Highlight Ale 4.8

Dazzlingly light blonde, this flavoursome modern revival brims with lustful tropical fruits. Divine aromas of citrus continue long into a finish that is laced with delicate floral notes.

Tasting Notes: 

Jack Valentine 4.2

Named after the mythical Norfolk gentleman Jack, who would knock on doors across the county and leave gifts for Valentine's Day, however he would disappear into thin air just as quickly as he appeared.

Tasting Notes: A golden beer with aromas of peach and plum. Notes of spice, grapefruit and orange sit on a citrus bed and give way to a lemony finish.

Legacy 4.4

Delightfully moreish, this revivifying blonde ale has an abundantly refreshing citrus aroma. This intensifies into a deliciously deep wave of lemon and lime, ending with a lengthy mellowing bitter finish.

Oatmeal Stout 4

Crafted with flaked oatmeal and roasted barley, this dark refreshing ale has notes of freshly roasted coffee beans, cocoa and touches of dried fruit

Old Ale 4.1

First brewed in the same year as the ‘Great Freeze’ in 1963, dark beers were very popular as they warmed the cockles of ones heart with their distinctive malty flavours.

Tasting Notes: This traditionally styled ale is predominately dry with a malty base. Bitter on the palate with slight undertones of cherries and plum.

Pale Ale 3.9

Vintage styled and distinctively balanced with a vivid golden tint. An aroma of crisp fruit greets the nose, rolling into a profound wave of melon and grapefruit. The finish is gracious and bitter sweet

Phantom Pale Ale

Tasting Notes: Flavour packed with a complex soul of ripe citrus. A faint undertone of berries and apricot on the end provide a spectacular dry bitter finish.

Saint Nick's 4.2

A festive tribute to Great Yarmouth's famous St Nicholas Church, which in 1942 stood burning alongside the original Lacons Brewery following a German air raid.

Tasting Notes: A dark copper glow and charming malty depth. Spiced orange on nose and palate before a satisfying citrus and floral finish.

Union 4.0

Tasting Notes: This dark amber ale is highly hopped with five different American varieties to give large aromas of fruit and pine, followed by complex orchard and citrus flavours with hints of spice and herbs.

Yarmouth Red 4.7

Inspired by the recipe for Yarmouth ale, which was first brewed during the dark years of the First World War.

Tasting Notes: Lacons Yarmouth Red beer is flavour packed and full of body, with roasted malt aromas, fruity flavours and a bitter finish.
