Situated just off the canal basin in Skipton, "The Narrow Boat" is named after the type of craft which currently use the adjacent Leeds - Liverpool Canal. It was the Company's first tavern, opened in March 1999 and is located on Victoria Street, a cobbled alley linking the town centre with the canal basin. Until August 2006, The Narrow Boat was the Company's smallest tavern. However, in early 2006, the adjacent premises were acquired and the tavern's size effectively doubled, whilst retaining the original intimate ambiance for which the tavern is renowned. The customer areas are now significantly enhanced and The Narrow Boat now also boasts a 50 cover upstairs function room which also doubles as a dining room at busy times. The original upstairs gallery area with its unique historic canal mural remains unchanged as a quiet haven from the busy downstairs bar area.
The function room is available for private hire, for example, weddings, office meetings, birthday parties and will also host a variety of music events.
