Having worked together at The Burton Bridge Inn for about 6 years, they took a pub of their own in 1997 – The Rising Sun, Tipton. The Rising Sun had been closed for some time and on first viewing, areas were ankle deep in water. However, there was a good ‘vibe', so ‘the girls' decided to go ahead. After a refurbishment, the pub opened as a free house, selling the Banks's range of beers, plus a guest beer. Jackie & Penny maintained the rules they have always worked by – no foul language, no televisions and no drinking out of bottles. It was tough going, Jackie banned the only 4 customers in the pub one early doors – the best move ever! Why not come down and pay us a visit!
