he Griffin is a brand new Taylor Walker to open in Leeds. It was previously know as Bar Censsa and before that The Griffin Hotel. Now, The Griffin has had a grand refurbishment but still keeping the connection to its famous past harking back to when it was a hotel of the highest accord on Boar Lane. Boasting illustrious Gothic revival architecture, designed by Thomas Ambler for its construction in 1872 the former hotel is an important part of Leeds history. It’s home to a one of a kind Potts clock that adorns the corner of the building with the hours cleverly replaced by the words ‘Griffin Hotel’, and deep within lays the spot where the city’s beloved Leeds United Football Club was born.
