2B 3.2

A lighter quaffable session bitter. Brewed constantly since the early 1900’s and Arkell’s most popular brew until the 1970’s when it was overtaken by 3B’s. A soft amber colour with a mild hoppy aroma and crisp refreshing flavour.

Tasting Notes: Toffee/Caramel notes

3B 4.0

Originally known as Arkell’s Best Bitter Beer. First brewed in 1910 and affectionately known as BBB or 3B by customers ever since. A copper coloured Ale with a pleasant fruity and malty nose. It has a lingering bittersweet flavour of balanced Maris Otter and crystal malt to give a nuttyness and traditional Fuggles and Golding hops for bitterness.

Tasting Notes: Bittersweet with Long dry aftertaste

Arkells Bee's Organic Ale 4.5

Following its huge success since its launch in bottles in 2001, Arkell's award-winning Bee's Organic Ale joined the regular roster of special, seasonal ales in April 2007.

Tasting Notes: Organically-grown malted barley, hops and, unusually, organically-produced honey are used in the brew. These give this cask-conditioned ale a light, fresh taste - with the organic honey providing a delightful and surprising flavour.

Arkells Jame's Real Ale 3.6

Brewed especially for Arkell's chairman James Arkell's 50th birthday, this beer was so popular with drinkers that we've added it permanently to our portfolio of seasonal beers.

Tasting Notes: A dry hopped, pale, with English Goldings, JRA is a golden colour with delicious hop aroma and full after-flavour.

Arkells Kingsdown 4.8

Kingsdown Ale is the strongest of the regular beers but is a brother to 3B as it comes from the same mash. It retains a strong character of its own, however, with its rich colour, ripe fruit ’nose’ and that traditional Arkell’s hopiness.

Tasting Notes: You can taste the malt, along with a bitter-sweet finish and fruit notes

Arkells Mash Tun Mild 3.5

Made between the wars when it was called 'Home-Brewed' and sold in bottles, this beer was re-introduced in 1990 as Mash Tun Mild - named after the vessel used in the brewing process.

Tasting Notes: It is now available on draught during the winter months and is dark, malty and lightly hopped, with a creamy after-palate.

Arkells Peter's Porter 4.8

Peter Arkell is the only chairman of the company to have a beer named after him during his own lifetime - that's him on the award-winning beermats and pump clips.

Tasting Notes: Peter's Porter is a smooth, dark and delicious porter

Arkell's Sir Noel Christmas Ale 5.0

This amber-coloured festive ale has a distinctive full-bodied flavour, with a good balance of malt and hop flavours, resulting in a deep, warming finish.

Tasting Notes:

Arkells Smooth 3.6

Satisfying the modern demand for 'smooth' beers, what better to call one of the smoothest beers around than simply 'Smooth'?

Tasting Notes: This is the newest addition to the Arkell's range and retains that characteristic Arkell's flavour while also delivering the silky texture that many of our customers enjoy. Its lower alcohol content makes it a lighter alternative to other 'smooth' beers which are available.

Arkells Summer Ale 4.0

Just the beer for those long evenings, Summer Ale is refreshingly light in both colour and taste. In fact, it is suited to whatever weather the British summer has to offer and has been a favourite with Arkell's drinkers since it was introduced in 1994.

Loaf of Beer 3.8

The ingredients in bread making are extremely similar to beer making. So we thought it would be a good idea to see what result they’d get from mixing bread and beer together.

Tasting Notes: They took some fresh bread from a local baker, chopped it up and added it into our Mash Tun alongside a dose of malted barley and some oats for added flavour. The resulting beer has a distinct bready sweetness which they have found to be deliciously satisfying enjoy.

Malthouse Craft Lager 4.2

Handmade, refreshing, characterful English lager brewed using local barley grown just around the corner from our brewery. Unlike many lagers, we like to slow ferment Malthouse for up to a month creating a softer, cleaner flavour with a satisfying fullness in the mouth. After this rather than pasteurising and cooking the aromas we gently triple micro filter the beer to lock in the thirst quenching flavour

Tasting Notes: Sweet, Malty

Pioneer IPA 3.8

In 1860 while our founder John and his sons were building up our brewery in bonny England, two more of his sons took a more adventurous route into brewing. They sailed off to New Zealand to pioneer English brewing techniques and built breweries all over the country. To mark our 175th anniversary, our head brewer visited New Zealand and has created this New Zealand-style IPA in homage to great brewing Pioneers. We shipped the hops directly from New Zealand to create a perfect, Kiwi, well balanced, session IPA. Enjoy!

Tasting Notes: A fruity New Zealand style IPA

Tradition 3.4
Voyager American Pale Ale 5.0

Our brewers used a slower, gradual, low temperature fermentation for a softer bodied beer. We then dry hoped with American Mosaic hop to build crisp flavours, subtle bitterness and a gentle floral, tropical fruit aroma. Way back in the early 19th Century before John, founder and great by-many grandfather, had selected our picturesque site to realise his passion and build a brewery, he was a farmer by trade. Times were hard in British farming so he upped sticks and voyaged to the uninhabited planes of Canada to build a new farm and a new life. “You can tell Polly that we live like two old, long-bearded and grave old bachelors,” John writes home to his brother. Love eventually brought him home and our beautiful brewhouse soon followed. Voyager is a tribute to his adventurous spirit. We’ve used American hops as a nod to his time across the Atlantic, giving the pale ale a fruity kick.

Tasting Notes: Tropical fruity American Pale Ale
