Adder 5.0

Award winning lager traditionally brewed in a Bohemian style with a slow fermentation, followed by cold conditioning. Incredibly drinkable with a light, fresh hop flavour balanced by a premium malt body.

Tasting Notes: Good bright, golden colour with fine bubbles. Enticing, true traditional Pilsner nose. It has a punchy flavour at the start, which blends maltiness and bitterness in a balanced way through to a fresh, clean finish.

Black Grouse 4.0

A rich, chocolatey porter brewed with oak chips for a barrel aged flavour. A smooth and satisfying dark ale.

Tasting Notes: Beautiful burnt toffee colour. Awesomely chocolatey on the nose and palate. Coffee, liquorice and a rich smoky length. Astringency of the roasted malts is balanced really nicely by the sweetness. Packed full of flavour. Really stopped us in our tracks and made us happy.

Bramling Brown Ale 4.5

Traditional UK brown ale brewed with UK grown Bramling Cross for hedgerow fruity flavours and a full malty body hinting at toasted nut, biscuit and caramel sweetness.

Tasting Notes: Berry Fruit, Biscuit, Toasted Nut

Cardinal 4.6

Pale Ale showcasing the much under used Slovenian Cardinal hop.

Tasting Notes: Hops from this region usually have very delicate profiles, however Cardinal has proven much more interesting with a punchy soft fruit aroma and taste.

Christmas Ale 7.0

A variety of roasted malts give a sweet biscuity flavour with hints of cinder toffee. Traditional Goldings hops used in abundance bring flavours of Seville orange marmalade and a floral aroma.

The next in the single hop range showcasing the Columbus hop from USA. There are copious amounts so you really get an idea of the hop profile.

Curlew's Return 4.2

A beautiful light ruby ale, highly drinkable with a refreshing bitterness and an exciting citrus floral hop character from a late hopping of Cascade.

Entrepreneur Ale 4.7

Golden caramel coloured premium ale with a delicious fruity and floral aroma.

Tasting Notes: Golden caramel coloured premium ale with a delicious fruity and floral aroma. Brewed to celebrate the head brewer being named the UK’s top young rural entrepreneur in 2008. Originally brewed as a one off special, but due to popular demand is now brewed whenever capacity permits. It is not available in bottles at present.

Fat Hippo 4.0

Brewed exclusively for the Fat Hippo Venues this 4% beer has a big citrus-floral hop flavour and a refreshing bitterness making the perfect partner for Fat Hippo's rich and juicy burgers.

Anglo-American IPA. The initial punch lemony citrus aroma gives way to a rounded hedgerow UK hop flavour which compliment each other perfectly

Hillbilly Lager 4.5

Slow fermented lager amped up with assertive US hops, clean and crisp with tropical citrus fruit flavours on the finish. Created exclusively for The Fat Hippo.

Hop On (GFPA) 4.7

This Gluten Free Pale makes no compromises on flavour, fresh pine aroma gives way to bold tropical fruit flavours with a lingering bitter finish.

Tasting Notes: This poured beautifully - a very enticing glass. A fruit, citrus nose with hints of pineapple - an exotic fruit nose promising much, which happily follows and expands through to the taste. The hops appear as soon as it hits your palate. It has a lovely mouthfeel, reasonably full in the body for a pale ale. The judges found it punchy and well-balanced. The fact that it is gluten-free is a bonus.

Old Sphagnum 4.1

Traditional UK amber ale brewed with UK grown Bramling Cross and First Gold hops for hedgerow fruity flavours and a full malty body with biscuit and caramel sweetness.

Tasting Notes: Floral, Hedgerow, Biscuit

Pennine Pale 4.0

Golden ale, brewed with an outstanding trio of bold American hops for a full fruity aroma and flavour, with a refreshing citrus finish.

Tasting Notes: Lovely copper tinged golden appearance. This has an appealing, citrus hoppy nose which carries through onto the palate where it mingles beautifully with the malts, leading to a very nicely integrated flavour profile and a clean well-balanced finish.

Spring Pale 4.2

A complex blend of hops from around the world to give a refreshing pint for the spring weather.

Stu's Brew 4.0

Stu Ridley is a local 25 year old farmer and Tynedale RFC player who has been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour. This beer was produced to raise awareness and funds for the campaign .

Summer Pale 3.8

Light refreshing summer drinking. Uses a mix of American and English Hops and Rye in the malt bill.

Tasting Notes: Citrus

Swift 4.5

Golden Amber ale with a full flavour and pronounced bitterness. Delicious tropical citrus flavours and aroma from New World hops with a biscuity finish.

Tasting Notes: Nutty, Sweet, Hoppy

Tar Bar'l Stout 4.5

Smooth and rich with flavours of coffee and chocolate, complimented by orange hop flavour to make an authentic yet remarkable stout.

Tasting Notes: Dark Chocolate, Smooth

Wagtail 3.8

This superbly balanced English bitter is made using only UK ingredients. A floral aroma, hints of seville orange and spiced dried fruit, with biscuit and toffee notes.

Tasting Notes: Malty, Hop, Long aftertaste

Winter Dunkel 4.6

Bohemian style dark lager, complex malt flavour, roasted nut aroma and a smooth fruit finish.

Tasting Notes: Bohemian style dark lager, complex malt flavour, roasted nut aroma and a smooth fruit finish. The winter of 1963 was particularly hard in Allendale, roads disappeared under snow drifts reaching 22 feet deep. When walking on the snow only the tops of the telegraph poles were visible, allowing the locals to navigate their way around the valley.

Wolf 5.5

Deep red and full bodied. Rich and complex malts provide depth, complimented by a hedgerow berry aroma.

Tasting Notes: Very appealing colour. Well roasted Viennese malts providing caramel notes on the nose and going through on the palate. Toasted buttery croissant, blackcurranty fruit on the finish.
