Back in the summer of 2004 (how time flies, hard to imagine it was a decade ago), we decided to buy the lease on the Anchor and set about restoring its fortunes. We wanted to create a village local that would be both family friendly and a welcome retreat for all who enjoy good conversation, food and drink. And for it also to be a rather special restaurant and inn where visitors could escape to for a relaxing time by the coast, whether for a meal or staying a night or two.

Adnams Southwold Bitter 3.4 Adnams

Southwold Bitter is a beautiful copper-coloured beer, late and dry-hopped with Fuggles for a distinctive, lingering hoppiness. Brewed with the finest East Anglian Pale Ale malt barley, sourced locally to the brewery. We use Fuggles hops which we add late in the boil to preserve the herbal flavours of this traditional English hop. We add more Fuggles to each cask so that the flavour of the hops infuses into the beer. It’s a perfect 3.7% abv in cask and 4.1% abv in bottle and can.
