The Club was built in 1963 and formally opened on 17th January 1964 by the BP refinery in Grain as a facility for its employees. It changed hands in 1982 when GEC took over the building, moving from its original site in Featherby Road, (now the 442 Club). GEC changed its name to BAE SYSTEMS in the early 2000s, and at the same time began to remove the funding that it provided to the Club in an effort to make it a stand alone business. In 2010, the Club was renamed The Village Community Sports & Social Club and is now open for anyone to join.
