The earliest reference to the Bay Horse Hotel at Wolsingham is 1827, though it is believed to be older. The original building was destroyed in the early 1920’s when a raging fire burnt down the hotel.
The Bay Horse was once again rebuilt, with an additional storey. The veranda and distinctive bay windows remained the same and the hotel became one of the most striking and distinguished buildings in the village.
