Glorious garden in Summer and large open log fire in Winter. We have a pool room, three separate bar areas including a snug, and the simply best juke box in town. Situated in the main high street, with public car park to rear. As we do not serve food, customers are welcome to eat picnics in the garden or bring take-aways in and eat them in the evenings.

Exmoor Stag 4.8 Exmoor Ales Ltd

This is a big hitter of a beer, an Ian Botham standing defiantly at the crease.

Tasting Notes: The nose is rich with resiny hop aromas to the fore followed by a biscuity maltiness in the background. On the palate a voluminous malty character with hints of chocolate and toffee is matched note for note with a well defined and warming fruitiness, before a giddy descent where a long dry finish where a hint of sweetness keeps matters well mannered.

Funky Monkey 4.0 Frome Brewing Company

Funky Monkey 4.0%, Pale Ale

Tasting Notes: Pour yourself a long tall glass of this English Pale Ale and linger on the light amber gleam before taking in the captivating aromatics of ripe mango and freshly squeezed grapefruit on the nose thanks to Citra and Mosaic in the hop mix. There is more citrus and tropical fruit on the palate, which are balanced by a subtle bittersweetness, before finishing with a clean bitterness and lasting dryness that encourages you to take another swig (yes, this is a beer to swig rather than sip).

Pedigree 4.5 Marstons

Pedigree. Now with added personality. They haven’t changed the taste. Just how it looks. So welcome to the new-look Pedigree, or “P” as it was first known. Strange that, looking back.

Tasting Notes: Anyway, it has a fascinating aroma, with a palate of biscuit malt, spicy hops and light fruitiness. It was renamed in a staff competition back in George Peard’s day. He was the Head Brewer at the time – that’s him on the clip. Cheers George.
