The Bruce Arms pub sits to the north side of the historic market square in Masham, North Yorkshire, offering real ales and a selection of spirits, lagers and wines along with homemade food.
Our huge beer garden has a spectacular outlook over the River Ure and Lower Wensleydale, that’s why we call the Bruce Arms ‘the pub with a view’!
We also have a children’s play area within the beer garden, while parts of it can be hired for free for outdoor events such as music concerts, theatre and dance shows.

Challenger, Goldings and Fuggle hops blend to create a beautiful aroma and flavour with kicks of grassy freshness and a big peppery punch. The Maris Otter malt offers a light sweetness that balances against those big bitter characters.

Brewed using the traditional Fuggle hop, Old Peculier is our best known beer and has a large and enthusiastic following all over Britain and around the world.

Theakston Best Bitter is the leading session ale within the Theakston portfolio. When we refer to a ‘bitter’ beer, the term does not mean sour as in lemons, but dry as in ‘dry white wine’. So Best Bitter is a full bodied, dry beer. We use five different hop varieties to make our Best Bitter forming a complex but subtle taste profile. The combination of dryness as generated by Target and Challenger hops, is balanced by sweetness created by the generous use of prime malting barley providing the perfect accompaniment to a wide variety of food flavours as found in a Ploughman’s lunch for instance. Tasting Notes: This fine, golden amber beer has a full flavour that lingers pleasantly on the palate. With good bittersweet balance, this beer has a subtle hop character described as sweet and fruity. It's a very refreshing and satisfying pint!
