Duke of York

A dog friendly pub serving food in Sayers Common.

Sayers Common is ideally situated for visitors to the South Downs with many local places of interest to visit, including Hickstead show jumping ground just a few minutes up the road. Brighton and Hove are a 10 minute drive away and the historic County Town of Lewes is just 15 minutes drive through some of the prettiest countryside in Sussex. Situated on the "Old" London Road, this house used to be on the main Brighton to London road until a new bypass relieved this lovely village of constant traffic. Nowadays, the "Duke" is at the heart of Sayers Common, an area named after a local hero, one Tom Sayer, a well renowned bare knuckle fighter! Why not come down and pay us a visit!

Drink % Brewery
Foster's 3.7 Heineken

Foster's is the ultimate ice-cold refreshment. Its balance of subtle fruitiness and vanilla is ideal for the sweeter-toothed lager lover. The perfect session beer to enjoy with mates.

Tasting Notes: A light-coloured lager style, it presents full malt character with a balanced clean hop bitterness. Combined with a slightly hoppy, but yeasty/malty nose, Foster's lager is a full bodied beer with excellent drinkability.

Guinness Draught 4.2 Guinness

One of the world's best-loved beers, with sweet smelling aromas of coffee and malt, from the first velvety sip to the last, lingering drop, every deep-dark satisfying mouthful in between is pure beauty… pure Guinness.

Tasting Notes: Unmistakeably GUINNESS®, from the first velvet sip to the last, lingering drop and every deep-dark satisfying mouthful in between.

Sussex Best Bitter 4.0 Harvey's Brewery

Our most famous and popular brand - it makes up over 90% of our total brewing capacity. Winner of the Champion Best Bitter of Britain title at CAMRA's Great British Beers Festival in 2005 and 2006. First brewed as recently as 1955.

Tasting Notes: A superbly balanced session bitter with a prominent hop character.
