A McMullen pub since 1902, The Orange Tree was rebuilt in 1976. Hitchin’s secret garden and sun trap is just a stone’s throw from the bustling town center, but seriously relaxed times and plenty of peace and quiet await you along with real fires and a very warm welcome.

As well as daily changing seasonal specials you can look forward to local craft ales, fastidiously tested fine wines, top-notch ethically sourced coffee in this cosy and friendly retreat.

Tasting Notes: Fresh and subtle fruit notes, a delicate malt sweetness and balanced bitterness for a clean, snappy finish. Budweiser is a medium-bodied, flavorful, crisp and pure beer with blended layers of premium American and European hop aromas, brewed for the perfect balance of flavor and refreshment.

Foster's 3.7 Heineken

Hertford Castle Ale 5.0 McMullens - DO NOT USE

A fine brew from McMullen at The Whole Hop Brewery, combining natural whole leaf arome hops, best Suffolk malted barley and McMullen’s own pure spring water.

Tasting Notes: Late hopping adds a subtlety to the traditional recipe, creating a truly distinctive taste for the ale connoisseur.

McMullen Cask Ale 3.8 McMullens - DO NOT USE

This ale is inspired from over 180 years of brewing at The Whole Hop Brewery. Styrian Goldings added to English Fuggle hops achieve a refreshingly well-balanced combination.

Tasting Notes: The subtle biscuity flavour comes from pale ale and amber malts. Mixed with the citrus flavours of these hops, this creates a light and refreshing ale that all generations of ale drinkers will enjoy.

McMullen Country Bitter 4.3 McMullens - DO NOT USE

The Head Brewer has combined the finest East Anglian Ale malted barley with a subtle blend of Crystal Malt and Caramalt with McMullen’s own pure spring water.

Tasting Notes: The addition of whole leaf Fuggle, Bramling Cross and Golding Hops at different stages of the brewing process gives a golden bitter with hints of citrus and spicy berries for a well balanced beer.

Screaming Reels 4.2 McMullens - DO NOT USE

Screaming Reels is a smooth brown beer made with a careful blend of Ale and Chocolate malts with a combination of English whole leaf aroma hops added at different stages of the brewing process.
