A special ale with New Zealand hops
Tasting Notes:
A summer special ale with Australian hops
It's a 4% chestnut coloured ale and unusual in that it has been ‘dry hopped' in the fermenters to enhance this character leaving the English hops to deliver that classic punch Otter has become known for.
Smooth honey coloured light ale with a crisp finish.
Tasting Notes: A fruity pale ale with a subtle blend of apples, pear and tropical fruits coming on the nose. Tropical fruits initially with a dryer crisp finish.
At 3.8%, Otter Dark is a traditionally dark brown session beer with a soft mouth feel. The wide range of floor malted barleys deliver a substantial malty base flavour with balanced bitterness from the roast barley.
Tasting Notes: A traditional mild with a twist. Hopped with an American hop to give a floral blackcurrant hint to balance the predominate Roast Barley flavour.
Thin creamy white head. Light-medium bitter.
keg ale brewed with modern American hops.
Tasting Notes: An English Pale Ale, full bodied. Infused with American hops to give a striking bitterness not usually seen in Otter beers. Experience the hoppy highs and malty depths of Otter Pale Ale!
A russet brown bitter
Imagine a piece of beautifully polished mahogany and you’ve got the deep, rich tones of Otter Ale. The malty aroma and hints of fruit provide a first clue to the flavour but the taste goes further and finishes in a strong combination of fruit and some bitterness.
Tasting Notes: A pale brown, well balanced beer, with a predominant hop and malty taste and aftertaste.
Otter Amber was first brewed for the trade in March 2009 as a mid gravity beer to complete the Otter range
Tasting Notes: The special Cara malt and carefully selected hops in Amber deliver a finely balanced bitter flavour, with hints of tropical fruit and spice sometimes even an impression of ginger.
It is a beautifully light and fruity beer with good hoppy bitterness. It leaves a refreshing bitterness which prompts the next gulp.
Tasting Notes: The depth of colour in Otter Bitter’s golden brown liquid is reflective of its great condition. Fruit notes and well balanced malty flavours are tinged with a hint of bitterness to make Otter Bitter a Devon beer of distinction.
Otter Bright was one of the original really pale beers. ‘Bright’ made her debut in the summer of ’96 but has since earned a regular place in the full time line up.
Tasting Notes: A refreshing beer brewed with lager malt and a single hop, Fuggles, with an amazingly fruity taste and hoppy/lager finish. This beer is as pale as lager and has even converted a few lager drinkers!
A strong Christmas special.
Tasting Notes: The dark ruby colour of Otter Claus makes it distinctive. It has a well-balanced malty flavour with a bitter sweet chocolate edge. The Fuggles hop delivers a bitterness that makes the beer dangerously ‘moreish’!
At 5.8% abv the award-winning Otter Head is their strongest beer. They believe that the key to brewing a great strong beer is to make it well-balanced with a good use of hops. This makes Otter Head easily drinkable and an excellent choice with food.
Tasting Notes: Whilst it has a distinctive barley wine, old ale character it remains light to drink with a malty, fruity and slightly sweet flavour with a long bittersweet aftertaste. The fruit and malt aroma sits well with the beer’s deep, luxurious red/brown colour – still a firm favourite on many bars.
An easy drinking spring bitter with hoppy freshness
Tasting Notes: Taste: Light Biscuity Smell: Spicy Honey
A special spring ale
This is a light and fruity beer that is ripe for enjoyment outside on a warm summer’s day.
Tasting Notes: Fruity
Tarka Four is cold fermented for two weeks and further lagered for at least three weeks.
Tasting Notes: A clean crisp lager with predominant hop flavouring. Floral and citrus notes with a hint of elderberry leading to a long dry finish.
A North German style Pilsner from Devon. Brewed traditionally to conform to the German purity laws.
Tasting Notes: A balanced lager with a floral aroma leading to citrus flavours with a hint of elderberry and a dry finish.
Winter Warmer has been wrapped in a 'pocket' of hops and malt to create the perfect seasonal medicine for December and January.
Tasting Notes: The darkness comes from locally grown chocolate malting barley and the spicy hop combination of Celeia and Willamett delivers an amazing yule tide aroma. A well balanced bitterness from a classic English hop called Pilgrim seals this seasonal package.
A Halloween special strong ale.
Tasting Notes: The dark ruby colour of Witch Otter makes it distinctive. It has a well-balanced malty flavour with a bitter sweet chocolate edge. The Fuggles hop delivers a bitterness that makes the beer dangerously ‘moreish’!
