S.A Brain & Co Ltd

A brewery in Cardiff.

Founded by Samuel Arthur Brain and his Uncle Joseph Benjamin Brain in 1882, we brew a wide range of cask, craft and keg beers from our brewery in Cardiff. Our most famous beer is Brains SA, which is closely associated with Welsh Rugby, with Brains Bitter, Smooth, Dark, Black, SA Gold, IPA Smooth and Dark Smooth making up our core Brains range.

Another key part of our portfolio is The Rev. James, now available in Original. Gold, Pale and Rye variants. Our range is complemented by craft beers from the Brains Craft Brewery, the most famous of which is Barry Island IPA, with other regularly-brewed products including Atlantic White, Black Mountain, Gin Lane and Point Break craft lager.

We also brew a regularly rotating range of seasonal and craft beers with a range of different styles and flavours to suit all tastes. 136 years on, we remain family-owned and, whilst a lot has changed since, our passion and dedication for brewing fine ales remain the same as it was in 1882.
