The Anglers Rest

A pub in Barnsley.

The Anglers' Rest is a traditional pub owned and run by the Geeves Brewery family of Barnsley. We offer a great range of our tasty ales so if you are a real ale fan, you will always find something to suit your taste at a price that won't break the bank. We also have a selection of lagers, wines, spirits and bottled drinks if real ale isn't your tipple and a range of soft drinks and hot beverages avaliable.

We have a courtyard to the rear with a beer garden and covered seating area, perfect for a pint in the summer and with two wood burning stoves it's cosy in the winter too. If you can't bear to step outside though and still want to smoke we welcome the use of E-Cigarettes and currently sell them and vapour. We support the Campaign for vaping in Pubs!

There are plenty of games to play from classic Chess to Guess Who? and we also have a pool table and darts board. Come down on Thursday Nights for free pool!

We look forward to seeing you soon

Drink % Brewery
Banana Bread 5.2 The Eagle Brewery

With its tempting banoffee aromas, this beer is very popular – particularly in export markets.

Tasting Notes:

Carling 4.0 Coors Brewers Ltd

The masterful blend that balances depth of flavour with the thirst quenching refreshment of the UK’s no.1 lager

Tasting Notes:

John Smiths Extra Smooth 3.6 John Smith's Brewery

John Smith’s Extra Smooth was launched in 1993 and is now the nation's number 1 ale.

Tasting Notes: The boffins say it has a distinct cereal character, with malty, caramel notes being complemented by some fruitiness. But we just think it’s a right good pint.
