The Bull has been a pub since 1564, and was leased by Brakspear in 1774, then bought in 1881. It was a coaching inn from 1744 to 1850 for those travelling between London and Wallingford. Over the years 57-59 Bell Street has been known as The Bull Brasserie and Ko-Kos too, but we’re hoping it keeps its current name for the foreseeable now. The Brakspear head office still remains in Henley and is in fact neighbours with the Bull on Bell Street sharing the Bull courtyard. Brakspear moved the head office here after the New Street brewery closed.
In January 2013 Brakspear gave 57-59 Bell Street a major makeover and on Good Friday, 29th March 2013, The Bull on Bell Street was revealed. The building itself is one of Henley’s oldest, dating back some 700 years, and we like to think we’ve given it a modern look whilst making the most of its character.
We've carefully selected our bar range to ensure wide variety combining high quality, to suit all tastes. We have spirits, beers and wines from all over the world, as well as a cask ale brewed in our very own micro-brewery. We make the best cocktails fresh to order too.
We are the only bar in Henley on Thames that also has a baby grand piano. We'll serenade you every weekend with our live entertainment.
Teas/coffees, cakes and pastries are served from opening. Food starts at midday.
All our dishes from our delicious menu are carefully planned to make sure all the ingredients complement each other perfectly. All our food is freshly prepared on the premises, using locally sourced ingredients where possible. We also offer
Teas/coffees, cakes and pastries.
At the back of The Bull by the dining area we also run The Bell Street Brewery. Our Head Brewer, Malcolm Mayo, was until recently Quality Manager at Marston’s Wychwood Brewery and held this important position for 12 years. We’re confident each and every drop has passed Malcolm’s rigorous checks, and our beer is in safe hands.
Come in, take a good look around, and let us know what you think.
