The Bull

A dog friendly pub serving food with Sky TV and WiFi and a garden in Whitwell.

Welcome to our 16th century pub situated in the picturesque village of Whitwell. There were once 7 pubs in our beautiful countryside village and The Bull Inn is the only one remaining.

With a huge garden overlooking the fields and hedgerows, bike racks, a spacious car park, plus all areas of the pub are dog-friendly - The Bull makes the perfect pit stop for those rural walks.

Under new ownership and management, we now boast a drinks list to suit everyone - from cask ales and draught ciders to a hand-picked selection of wine.

We are a community hub with a great sociable atmosphere, and hold a variety of events from pub quizzes to charity nights, live music, and even a 'rock n roll bingo night'!

We are also proud to offer a full menu of delicious traditional pub food, and roasts on a Sunday.

Drink % Brewery
Adnams Ghost Ship 4.5% 4.5 Adnams

This is a Pale Ale with a pithy bitterness and a malty backbone. Brewed with a selection of malts – Pale Ale, Rye Crystal and Cara – Adnams use Citra and a blend of other American hop varieties to create some great citrus flavours. Ghost Ship is inspired by one of Adnams’ most haunted pubs in one of the UK’s most haunted villages, the Bell at Walberswick. The shores of Walberswick are littered with eerie wrecks of smuggling ships from a bygone era

Tasting Notes: This is a Pale Ale with a pithy bitterness and a malty backbone. Brewed with a selection of malts – Pale Ale, Rye Crystal and Cara – Adnams use Citra and a blend of other American hop varieties to create some great citrus flavours

Amstel 4.1 Heineken

Our classic, golden Amstel Beer, with its very distinctive and mildly bitter taste, has over the years become well known beyond the borders of its native country.

Tasting Notes:

Birra Moretti 4.6 Heineken

The ultimate Italian lager since 1859, Birra Moretti’s special blend of high quality hops creates a smooth, full bodied beer with wholemeal bread top notes which are cut by a delicate citrus note.

Tasting Notes: It is a bottom fermented beer with a golden colour. This colouring is a result of the type of malt used in brewing. Its alcohol content is 4.6% alcohol by volume. It is not a strong beer and is therefore perfect for drinking at lunch, at dinner or for evenings out with friends

Fosters Radler 2.0 Heineken
Gamma Ray 5.4 Beavertown Brewery

Gamma Ray is a juicy tropical beer. A brew you can sit on and drink all day, rammed with juicy malts and huge tropical aromas of mango and grapefruit.

Tasting Notes: Massive additions of whole leaf American hops are added in ever increasing numbers at the end of the boil giving huge hop flavour. The beer is then dry hopped for days, driving the punchy aromas.

Guinness Draught 4.2 Guinness

One of the world's best-loved beers, with sweet smelling aromas of coffee and malt, from the first velvety sip to the last, lingering drop, every deep-dark satisfying mouthful in between is pure beauty… pure Guinness.

Tasting Notes: Unmistakeably GUINNESS®, from the first velvet sip to the last, lingering drop and every deep-dark satisfying mouthful in between.

Heineken 5.0 Heineken

Brewing beer is a 100% natural process. Heineken beer is made from the purest ingredients.

Tasting Notes: The resin from the female hop flower cones is used to help balance the sweetness of the barley with a refreshing bitterness.

Kronenbourg 1664 5.0 Heineken

Kronenbourg 1664's pleasure is in its light lemon and herbal flavours from the Alsace hops, and clean bittersweet finish.

Tasting Notes: This exceptional beer originated in Alsace in Eastern France and is brewed with the exclusive Strisselspalt hop, known as the caviar of hops, which gives it its unique aromatic and fruity flavour.

Neck Oil 4.3 Beavertown Brewery

Our all day, everyday, session drinking IPA. A blend of 7 American & Austrian hops, pineapple and orange citrus aroma, Passion fruit & grapefruit flavour with a refreshing, dry, crisp finish.

Tasting Notes:

Side Pocket for a Toad 3.6 Tring Brewery Company Ltd

Golden, hoppy and packed with flavour.

Tasting Notes: Unmistakable citrus notes from only the best Cascade hops balanced with a floral aroma and crisp dry finish make this straw coloured ale a fantastic session beer. Available in 500ml bottles.

Spitfire Amber 4.2 Shepherd Neame

The beer is named after the legendary Spitfire aeroplane designed by RJ Mitchell. The versatility of the aircraft and the courage of its pilots were essential to victory and were a key symbol of the spirit of that time.

Tasting Notes: An infusion of three Kentish hops adorns this beautifully balanced, blood-orange tinted British bitter with an acutely aromatic allure. Hints of marmalade, red grapes and pepper are thrust from a springboard of warm, mellow malts. The floating fruity finish signs off with a smidgen of spice and raspberry.
