The Castle

A pub serving food with WiFi in Farringdon.

An EC1 pub with a right royal past
The understated appeal of The Castle conceals a regal past that's the stuff of pub legend. This refreshingly down-to-earth Farringdon public house was once frequented by King George IV, who was tempted in by a spot of cockfighting. Arriving without money, he promptly issued the pub with a pawnbroker's licence and handed over his gold watch to fund a flutter. Today, you'll be relieved to hear, The Castle is favoured for its sublime selection of beers, tasty food, great team and two stunning floors, rather than feuding poultry.

Drink % Brewery
Asahi 5.0 Asahi

Light straw color with a large foamy white head. The aroma has rice, grassy hops, and grain.

Tasting Notes: Clean and crisp with a restrained bitterness and a subtle citrus aroma, this light golden beer was Japan''''s first "dry" lager. Its deft, distinct dryness comes from a carefully concise fermentation period, a minimum four week maturation period and the traditional addition of a small amount of rice. Fresh and with plenty of balanced finesse, it''''s an ideal accompaniment to the well-defined flavours and textures found in sushi.

Guinness Draught 4.2 Diageo

Rich and creamy. Distinctive, Ruby Red colour. Velvety in its finish. This iconic beer was developed in 1959 and launched as a celebration of the 200 years anniversary of Arthur Guinness signing his 9,000-year lease.

Tasting Notes: Aroma: Sweet smelling with a coffee and malty nose
Flavour: Perfect balance of bitter and sweet with malt and roast characters Palate: Smooth, creamy and balanced

Tasting Notes: A classic pale ale with an amber hue, it opens with a complex citrus and fruity aroma, delivering a full but smooth malt body with a touch of sweetness, followed by a lingering, gentle bitter hop finish that keeps it refreshing.

Aspall Cyder 4.5 Aspall Cyder

Draught is a crisp, medium dry cyder with a delicate aroma and taste of fresh pressed apples. Crafted at the original Cyder House, Suffolk.
