The Cock Inn

A child friendly pub serving food and a garden in Maidstone.

An historic pub believed to date from 1568, the Cock Inn boasts a host of traditional features including exposed beams and inglenook fireplaces. It famously featured in the 1949 Ealing comedy Kind Hearts and Coronets which starred Alec Guinness.

Just a short drive from the centre of Maidstone and only four miles from the world famous Leeds Castle, the Cock Inn wins the hearts of all who visit.

Country cooking with a twist is a speciality of the pub's 42 seater restaurant using locally sourced ingredients, and there's always a good choice of ales, lagers and an extensive wine list to be enjoyed.
The Cock Inn is rated highly in a number of guides for its great beers, good food and for being pet friendly too.

It's a regular stopping point for walkers and dogs taking in the nearby Greensand Way.

With monthly quiz nights, gourmet club tasting evenings in winter months and a variety of traditional pub games help ensure the pub is always worth visiting.

Asahi Super Dry 5.0 Shepherd Neame

Clean and crisp with a restrained bitterness and a subtle citrus aroma, this light golden beer was Japan's first "dry" lager.

Tasting Notes: Its deft, distinct dryness comes from a carefully concise fermentation period, a minimum four week maturation period and the traditional addition of a small amount of rice. Fresh and with plenty of balanced finesse, it's an ideal accompaniment to the well-defined flavours and textures found in sushi.

Early Bird 4.3 Shepherd Neame

A fabulously refreshing, bracing beer that hails early maturing Goldings hops in style.

Tasting Notes: Alive and open with a golden glint in its eye, it stirs up spring sensations of blossom, honey, freshly cut grass and plenty of pine on the nose. The gentle bitterness, soothed by an undercurrent of light biscuit malt, delivers a dry finish. Superb with salads and whitebait.

Guinness Original 4.2 Guinness

Swirling clouds tumble as the storm begins to calm.

Tasting Notes: Unmistakeably GUINNESS®, from the first velvet sip to the last, lingering drop. And every deep-dark satisfying mouthful in between.

Kronenbourg 1664 5.0 Heineken

Kronenbourg 1664's pleasure is in its light lemon and herbal flavours from the Alsace hops, and clean bittersweet finish.

Tasting Notes: This exceptional beer originated in Alsace in Eastern France and is brewed with the exclusive Strisselspalt hop, known as the caviar of hops, which gives it its unique aromatic and fruity flavour.

Oranjeboom 3.9 Shepherd Neame

A delicious, easy-drinking Dutch drop with a hay-like hue and a herbaceous, grassy and fruity fragrance. Citrus notes on the palate speak softly of orange, kiwi and lemongrass buttressed with a hint of caramel sweetness and a gentle, drifting finish.

Tasting Notes: Fruity, citrus, caramel

Spitfire Amber 4.2 Shepherd Neame

The beer is named after the legendary Spitfire aeroplane designed by RJ Mitchell. The versatility of the aircraft and the courage of its pilots were essential to victory and were a key symbol of the spirit of that time.

Tasting Notes: An infusion of three Kentish hops adorns this beautifully balanced, blood-orange tinted British bitter with an acutely aromatic allure. Hints of marmalade, red grapes and pepper are thrust from a springboard of warm, mellow malts. The floating fruity finish signs off with a smidgen of spice and raspberry.

Whitstable Bay Pale Ale 3.9 Shepherd Neame

Whitstable Bay Pale Ale is designed to suit all palates and offer a light, refreshing taste. The sweet maltiness balances perfectly with the fresh pine notes provided by the hops added late in the process, to offer a light-coloured, thirst-quenching ale.

Tasting Notes: Refreshing, pine, fresh

Strongbow 4.5 Heineken

Strongbow gets its distinctive flavour and cut-through refreshment through the unique blends of bittersweet British cider apples from our Herefordshire orchards.

Tasting Notes: The cider is made from a blend of bittersweet cider and culinary apples making it a well-rounded, balanced cider with a good mix of fresh apples and cidery flavour

Thatchers Gold Cider 4.8 Thatchers Cider

Thatchers Gold tastes as good as it looks. Using the best of our traditional approach and modern techniques for a refreshing cider with a smooth appley taste and a bright sparkle.
