The Cordwainer

A child friendly pub serving food with WiFi in Northampton.

The larger-than-life sculpture, outside the Grosvenor Centre, depicts two children wearing new shoes and dancing on a cobbler's 'last' - a device used in traditional shoe-making, a trade which made Northampton famous. The first recorded reference to the town's shoe industry was in 1202. A few years later, King John, on one of his many visits to Northampton, bought a pair of boots for nine pence. The town's first guild of cordwainers (or shoe-makers) was established at the beginning of the 15th century.

Gold Star 5.2 Phipps NBC

To mark the 40th anniversary of the closure of Phipps' original Bridge street brewery, we have brought back to life the final new brew from the old company

Tasting Notes: This titan of a beer has the colour and drinking quality of the IPA but with a subtle punch of an export strength ale.

Jaipur 5.9 Thornbridge Brewery

Packed full of American hops, Jaipur’s hoppiness builds in the mouth and bursts with powerful citrus fruit flavours with a remarkably smooth finish. The fantastic balance of this beer makes for a deliciously drinkable IPA.

Tasting Notes: Citrus, Honey, Hoppy

Saltaire Blonde 4.0 Saltaire Brewery Ltd

A straw coloured lager ale with creamy, soft malt flavours, delicately hopped with Czech and German hop varieties for modest bitterness and slight spice flavour.

Tasting Notes:

The Rev James Original 4.5 S.A Brain & Co Ltd

Based on a recipe from 1885 The Rev. James Original is rich and well-balanced with a mellow malty flavour that unexpectedly gives way to a clean, refreshing finish. Brewed using exclusive Buckleys’ yeast this award winning ale will save your soul and satisfy your thirst.
