The Forum

A child friendly pub serving food with WiFi in Hexham.

This Wetherspoon pub was originally the Forum cinema, built in 1937.

In 1936, the Gem was demolished to enable a new cinema to be built. The proposed name was the Savoy, but the name finally chosen was the Forum, from the area's Roman connections.

The Roman link was also reflected in the interior design, which sported Roman centurions driving chariots modelled in low relief on the walls and floodlit from the base. There was also a stage with theatre lighting.

Abbot Ale 5.0 Greene King PLC

Full flavoured, smooth and mature taste with fruit cake characters , a malty richness and superb hop balance.

Tasting Notes: Mahogany in colour and brewed for longer to create a rich malty, and mature flavour.

Hobgoblin Gold 4.2 Wychwood Brewery

Hobgoblin Gold is the latest beer carrying the little fella’s moniker, and while Gold might be lighter in colour, it’s definitely no lightweight

Tasting Notes: A combination of six hop varieties (yes six!) & an infusion of wheat and malted barley has resulted in the perfect golden beer – with a huge hop punch.

Jaipur 5.9 Thornbridge Brewery

Packed full of American hops, Jaipur’s hoppiness builds in the mouth and bursts with powerful citrus fruit flavours with a remarkably smooth finish. The fantastic balance of this beer makes for a deliciously drinkable IPA.

Tasting Notes: Citrus, Honey, Hoppy

Ruddles Best 3.7 Greene King PLC

Hoppy citrus undertones, balanced with bitterness and light sweetness. Packed with soft fruit aromas.

Tasting Notes: Chestnut Brown in colour with hoppy citrus undertones and soft fruit aromas.
