The Gateway is a traditional pub run by JD Wetherspoon that offers a lively atmosphere, TV that shows live news, two warm live fireplaces, great food from our varied menu that caters for virtually all tastes.
Wi-Fi if you like to surf the web while drinking a coffee using Lavazza coffee beans, fantastic range of lagers, spirits, soft drinks or an ale from one of our 8 ale pumps and our large licensed outdoor area.

The clue is in the name. A rich deep golden strong ale. The name is derived from the days when sailors from Merseyside would demand full rations.

Tasting Notes: The high level of alcohol is complemented by increased bitterness and the fruity hop finish is derived from a combination of Fuggles, First Gold and Cascade hops.
