The Pommelers Rest

A child friendly pub serving food with WiFi in London.

Pommeler’s Rest has been a Wetherspoon’s pub for fourteen years. Formerly the Tower Bridge Hotel, the pub takes its name from the area's centuries-old connections with the leather trade. The earliest record of the word pommeler (one who pummels) was in c1450 and became associated with leather workers.

It is a 2,750 sq ft pub establishment that compromises one bar and two separated dining areas. The pub facilities include TV screens, thus broadcasting live news, kids’ space and Wifi. The pub also boasts Cask Marque accreditation.

The strengths include leading brands; a wide product range that includes a variety of cask ales, premium lagers, spirits, wine, soft drinks; and food including healthy eating options, breakfasts, premium quality food dishes and club deals. Pommeler’s Rest offers highly popular club deals (Steak Club, Curry Club, Chicken Club, Fish Friday, burger and a drink and deli deals).

The Pommeler’s Rest stands out locally by offering affordable prices that are suitable for a range of customers.

Drink % Brewery
Abbot Ale 5.0 Greene King PLC

Full flavoured, smooth and mature taste with fruit cake characters , a malty richness and superb hop balance.

Tasting Notes: Mahogany in colour and brewed for longer to create a rich malty, and mature flavour.

Conqueror 5.0 Windsor & Eton Brewery

This beer is brewed in the IPA style ie strong, dry and hoppy (all features to cope with the arduous journey to India) but it certainly isn’t pale.

Tasting Notes: This rich, complex & distinctive ale is one of the UK’s most talked about beers for two reasons. Firstly the name generates controversy. This beer is brewed in the IPA style ie strong, dry and hoppy (all features to cope with the arduous journey to India) but it certainly isn’t pale. As per records of the time this beer is ‘a dark beer of the Burton style’.  The blackness of this beer is produced using a blend of 5 malts including Chocolate, dark Crystal, Carafa and Smoked malt.Unlike a stout though this beer also packs a mighty punch of hop flavour derived from Summit and Cascade hops. The result is a completely different drinking experience.

Father Thames 4.8 Windsor & Eton Brewery
Ruddles Best 3.7 Greene King PLC

Sharp's Doom Bar Amber Ale 4.0 Sharp's Brewery Ltd

Doom Bar is a perfectly balanced beer combining subtle yet complex flavours, Doom Bar is both satisfying and deliciously moreish.

Tasting Notes: “The aroma of Doom Bar combines an accomplished balance of spicy resinous hop, inviting sweet malt and delicate roasted notes. The mouth feel is a perfectly balanced and complex blend of succulent dried fruit, lightly roasted malty notes and a subtle yet assertive bitterness. The bitterness remains into the finish with dry fruity notes which implore the drinker to go back for more.” Stuart Howe, Head Brewer.
