The original Brookfield House was built in the 1890s as a well-to-do middle class home; the profile of this house can still be seen in the Hotel today. Before that the land was part of the common land of the Parish of Warblington, which was quite remote and within the area patrolled by a highwayman, as well as near the local smugglers’ routes. One of the families who lived in this property were the Paxtons, whose son, Archie, was to die on the first day of the Battle of the Somme in 1916. Over the years the business expanded until it was able to add a restaurant and offer full hotel services.

A light chestnut in colour which puts it into the 'brown beer' category.

Tasting Notes: As far as flavour goes, it tends rather more towards the malt than the hops, though there is a pleasing hop taste right at the finish. The aroma is light and pleasant.
