The Sun, Whitchurch Hill

A pub serving food in Reading.

A traditional English pub run by a Mother and Daughter. We make it our business to make you feel at home – to feed you and introduce you to traditional ales that have a Cask Marque award. Which guarantees satisfaction and a top pint. We are a child friendly and dog friendly family run public house. We offer home-cooked, wholesome pub food, baguette and sandwiches. Most of our food is prepared and cooked freshly. Join us on Sundays for our lovely home cooked roast dinner that will have you bursting with joy, or you could even pop in on a Friday night for Steak night, served with home-made onion rings, peas, chips and mushrooms.

Drink % Brewery
Boondoggle 4.2 Ringwood Brewery Ltd

Boondoggle delivers a hoppy aroma with a citrus punch. This followed by a well-balanced moreish fruity taste. Boondoggles unique character is a result of the use of the finest English Pale Malt, First Gold and Fuggles Hops.

Tasting Notes: Light gold, hoppy, fruit ale

Brakspear Bitter 3.4 Brakspear

Brakspear Bitter is ideal with foods such as fish and chips, Ploughmans lunch and mature English cheeses

Tasting Notes: Amber light, fruity, hoppy ale

Foster's 3.7 Heineken

Foster's is the ultimate ice-cold refreshment. Its balance of subtle fruitiness and vanilla is ideal for the sweeter-toothed lager lover. The perfect session beer to enjoy with mates.

Tasting Notes: A light-coloured lager style, it presents full malt character with a balanced clean hop bitterness. Combined with a slightly hoppy, but yeasty/malty nose, Foster's lager is a full bodied beer with excellent drinkability.

Guinness Draught 4.2 Guinness

One of the world's best-loved beers, with sweet smelling aromas of coffee and malt, from the first velvety sip to the last, lingering drop, every deep-dark satisfying mouthful in between is pure beauty… pure Guinness.

Tasting Notes: Unmistakeably GUINNESS®, from the first velvet sip to the last, lingering drop and every deep-dark satisfying mouthful in between.

Marston's Pedigree 4.5 Marstons

Pedigree. Now with added personality. They haven’t changed the taste. Just how it looks. So welcome to the new-look Pedigree, or “P” as it was first known. Strange that, looking back.

Tasting Notes: Anyway, it has a fascinating aroma, with a palate of biscuit malt, spicy hops and light fruitiness. It was renamed in a staff competition back in George Peard’s day. He was the Head Brewer at the time – that’s him on the clip. Cheers George.

Stella Artois 4.8 Stella Artois

Stella Artois is one of the world’s best-selling beers and is enjoyed in more than 80 countries. Its full, characteristic flavour and high quality is assured through a superior brewing process and by using the finest ingredients available.

Tasting Notes: It is brewed to perfection using the original Stella Artois yeast and only the best ingredients including the celebrated Saaz hops. It's the optimum premium lager, with its full flavour and clean, crisp taste.
