Set right next to Upnor Castle overlooking the River Medway and St Mary’s Island, the Tudor Rose celebrates all things nautical.
It’s thought to have been built soon after the Dutch invasion along the Medway in 1667 and these days is adorned with colourful murals of Lord Nelson and his flagship HMS Victory in the main bar. A second bar recreates the interior of a former Medway tug vessel, named the Kent.
Tudor Rose has a full selection of to six Shepherd Neame ales at any time and the house won a Master of Beer award in 2008.
Home made dishes, using local sourced ingredients, feature strongly on the menu which offers not only traditional pub food but special nights for Italian, Indian and Mexican recipes. Up to 45 people can sit down for a meal in the two bars.
For music lovers, folk, country and blues duos and trios make monthly appearances for live nights.
