If ever there was a country pub worth going off the beaten track for, then the Share & Coulter just outside Herne Bay would be high on anybody’s list.
Brimming with period charm but offering everything a modern visitor would want, there’s a smart restaurant able to cater for 52 people offering a range of traditional fare and daily specials.
Fine ales and wines can be enjoyed in sumptuous, cosy bar areas to help you unwind after a busy day. If sport’s your thing, the Share & Coulter has these in abundance. Not only does it have its own football team but a good sized outdoor pitch as well! Darts, pool, petanque and bat & trap are also to be enjoyed here and again, the pub has its own teams in these pastimes.
For sunnier days, there’s a large outdoor eating area and a children’s play area close by to keep young minds active. There’s also plenty of room for a marquee in a part of the garden close to the main building for special events.
The Share & Coulter dates from the early Victorian era when it was set up as a beer house with some of the rent used to support poor people of the parish. The pub takes its name from a horsedrawn plough – there is an original set over the main entrance.
