Found close to Whitstable town centre is the East Kent dating from 1802. Named after the former local East Kent army regiment, its sign features the regimental arms.
Oozing with original character the pub claims to have the best beer garden in the town where the sun shines all day long over shady umbrellas and smart decking. Two petanque pitches and a children’s play area help ensure nobody will be bored for long.
Indoors, look out for traditional bar billiards and exciting table football – the latter with a Spanish twist. Some of those players look like they play for Barcelona! Darts, pool, dominoes, crib, backgammon and ‘shut the box’ can be played here too.
The East Kent has a loyal following among music fans enjoying regular live bands playing everything from 1960s hits, light rock to the present.
If you’re hungry, then the pub specialises in Thai food, freshly prepared to order on the premises.
The East Kent is 10 minutes walk from the town’s railway station, 10 minutes from the beach and a 20 minute stroll from the harbour.
