The Nags Head

A pub serving food in Rochester.

The Nags Head is the only pub in Lower Stoke and was once part of the local manor when built nearly 400 years ago with a number of forges close by. Newly refurbished but still very much a traditional village pub, it is handy for those visiting the campsite and moorings at Allhallows, just over a mile away. We have created an attractive family feel indoors with a log burning fire to keep the winter chills away, and for the warmer days a beautiful large beer garden with a recently built fully furnished and heated smoking room. As well as a Juke Box and Darts Board we have regular events including live music, discos and karaoke. The pub’s main claim to fame is that the famous painter Hogarth stayed there once for two days.
